Description

These Taco Cups are a fun and portable twist on classic tacos, featuring crispy baked wonton wrappers filled with seasoned ground beef and melted cheddar cheese. Perfectly sized for parties or family dinners, these bite-sized treats are topped with fresh tomatoes and green onions for a burst of flavor.

Ingredients

Beef Mixture

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tbsp taco seasoning
  • ½ cup water

Wonton Cups

  • 24 wonton wrappers
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Toppings

  • ½ cup diced tomatoes
  • ¼ cup sliced green onions
  • Sour cream, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the taco cups.
  2. Brown the ground beef: In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain off any excess fat to avoid sogginess.
  3. Simmer with seasoning: Add taco seasoning and water to the skillet, stirring to combine. Let the mixture simmer for 3–4 minutes to blend the flavors.
  4. Prepare muffin tin: Spray a 12-cup muffin tin lightly with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  5. Form wonton cups: Press one wonton wrapper into each muffin cup, creating a cup shape.
  6. Layer filling and cheese: Spoon a portion of the beef mixture into each wonton cup, then sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese.
  7. Add second wonton layer: Place a second wonton wrapper on top of the filling and cheese, gently pressing it down to repeat the layering.
  8. Bake: Bake the filled muffin tin in the preheated oven for 12–15 minutes until the wonton wrappers are golden brown and crispy.
  9. Add toppings and serve: Remove from oven, top each taco cup with diced tomatoes and sliced green onions. Serve warm with sour cream on the side.

Notes

  • Add black beans or corn to the beef mixture for an extra texture and flavor boost.
  • Serve with additional toppings like salsa, guacamole, or sour cream to suit your taste.
  • These taco cups are best enjoyed fresh while the wonton wrappers remain crispy.
