Description

Juicy grilled chicken skewers coated in a sweet maple barbecue glaze. These kebabs combine tender chicken breast pieces with vibrant bell peppers and onions, perfectly cooked over medium heat for a delightful summer meal or family dinner.

Ingredients

Chicken and Marinade

  • 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cubed
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Vegetables

  • 1 bell pepper, cut into chunks
  • 1 red onion, cut into chunks

Additional

  • Wooden or metal skewers

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sauce: In a bowl, mix barbecue sauce, maple syrup, olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper thoroughly to create a flavorful glaze for the chicken.
  2. Marinate the chicken: Toss the cubed chicken in half of the sauce mixture, ensuring each piece is well coated. Marinate for 30 minutes if time allows to enhance flavor and tenderness.
  3. Assemble the kebabs: Thread the marinated chicken pieces alternately with chunks of bell pepper and red onion onto the skewers, arranging evenly for balanced cooking.
  4. Preheat the grill: Heat your grill to medium heat, preparing it for even cooking without burning the glaze.
  5. Grill the kebabs: Place the kebabs on the grill and cook for 10 to 12 minutes, turning occasionally to ensure all sides are evenly cooked and the chicken reaches a safe internal temperature.
  6. Glaze during grilling: Brush the kebabs with the remaining half of the sauce during the last few minutes of grilling to add extra flavor and a glossy finish.
  7. Serve: Remove the kebabs from the grill once the chicken is cooked through, and serve them warm for the best taste and texture.

Notes

  • Soak wooden skewers in water for 30 minutes before grilling to prevent them from burning.
  • If a grill is not available, bake the kebabs at 400°F (200°C) for 20–25 minutes until the chicken is fully cooked.
