Ingredients
For the Dough
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1 egg
- 3 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
For the Filling
- 1/2 cup strawberry jam
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
For the Glaze
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Activate Yeast: In a bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until the mixture is foamy, indicating the yeast is active.
- Prepare Dough: Add the egg, melted butter, and salt to the yeast mixture. Gradually mix in the flour and knead until a soft dough forms.
- First Rise: Cover the dough and let it rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Shape Dough: Roll the dough into a rectangle on a floured surface, preparing it for filling.
- Add Filling: Spread strawberry jam evenly across the dough, then sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon over the jam.
- Form Rolls: Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut it into slices.
- Second Rise: Arrange the slices in a greased baking dish and let them rise for 20 minutes.
- Bake Rolls: Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 20–25 minutes until the rolls turn golden brown.
- Prepare Glaze: Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to create the glaze.
- Glaze Rolls: Drizzle the glaze over the warm cinnamon rolls before serving.
Notes
- Fresh strawberries can be added to the filling for extra flavor.
- Cream cheese frosting can be used instead of glaze for a richer topping.
