Description
A popular Japanese sushi roll featuring fresh sushi-grade salmon mixed with a creamy and spicy sauce, wrapped with seasoned sushi rice and nori seaweed. This recipe combines the bold flavors of sriracha and sesame oil with fresh cucumber and avocado for a refreshing and satisfying bite, perfect for a homemade sushi experience.
Ingredients
Rice
- 2 cups sushi rice, cooked and seasoned
Salmon Filling
- 200 g fresh sushi-grade salmon, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon sriracha sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
Additional Fillings
- 1/2 cucumber, julienned
- 1 avocado, sliced
Assembly
- 4 nori sheets
Instructions
- Prepare the Spicy Salmon Mixture: In a medium bowl, combine the finely chopped fresh salmon with mayonnaise, sriracha, and sesame oil. Mix thoroughly until well incorporated, creating a creamy and spicy filling.
- Prepare the Nori and Rice: Place one nori sheet shiny side down on a bamboo sushi rolling mat. Evenly spread a thin layer of the seasoned sushi rice over the nori surface. For an inside-out roll, flip the nori so the rice is on the outside.
- Add Fillings: Arrange a line of the spicy salmon mixture along the edge of the nori with rice. Add julienned cucumber and sliced avocado on top of the salmon mixture for freshness and texture.
- Roll the Sushi: Using the bamboo mat, tightly roll the sushi starting from the edge with the fillings, applying gentle but firm pressure to create a compact roll without squeezing out the ingredients.
- Slice and Serve: With a sharp knife, slice the roll into bite-sized pieces, wiping the blade clean between cuts to maintain neat slices. Serve immediately with soy sauce, pickled ginger, and wasabi if desired.
Notes
- Always use sushi-grade fresh salmon to ensure safety when consuming raw fish.
- Adjust the amount of sriracha to control the spiciness of the rolls according to your preference.
- Use a sharp knife dipped in water for cleaner sushi slices.
- Optional: Flip the roll inside-out for a different texture presentation with rice on the outside.
