Description
Parmesan Crusted Chicken features tender chicken breasts coated in a crispy Parmesan and breadcrumb crust, pan-seared to golden perfection for an easy and delicious Italian-American dinner.
Ingredients
Chicken
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
Crust Mixture
- ¾ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp salt
Breading and Cooking
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Prepare the crust mixture: In a shallow dish, combine grated Parmesan cheese, breadcrumbs, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper, mixing well to evenly distribute all the dry ingredients.
- Coat the chicken: Dip each chicken breast into the beaten egg, ensuring it is fully coated, then press it into the Parmesan breadcrumb mixture, covering all sides evenly for a crispy crust.
- Heat the skillet: Place a large skillet over medium heat and add olive oil, allowing it to warm until shimmering but not smoking to ensure perfect searing.
- Cook the chicken: Add the coated chicken breasts to the skillet and cook for 5 to 6 minutes on one side until the crust is golden and crispy, then carefully flip and cook the other side for another 5 to 6 minutes until the chicken is cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- Optional finishing: If the chicken breasts are thick and need additional cooking, finish them in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 5 to 7 minutes until fully cooked.
Notes
- Finish the chicken in the oven if it is thick to ensure it cooks through without burning the crust.
- Serve Parmesan Crusted Chicken alongside pasta, fresh salad, or roasted vegetables for a complete meal.
- Use fresh Parmesan cheese for the best flavor and texture.
- Do not overcrowd the skillet to maintain heat and even cooking.
