Description

These Mediterranean Turkey Burgers are juicy, flavorful, and packed with fresh Greek-inspired ingredients. Ground turkey is combined with garlic, herbs, feta, and lemon, then grilled or pan-seared and served with tzatziki and fresh vegetables for a healthy and satisfying meal perfect for lunch or dinner.

Ingredients

Turkey Burger Mixture

  • 1 ½ lbs ground turkey
  • ½ small red onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup crumbled feta cheese
  • ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Cooking and Serving

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4–6 burger buns or pita breads
  • Tzatziki, for serving
  • Tomato slices, for serving
  • Cucumber slices, for serving
  • Red onion slices, for serving

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a large bowl, add the ground turkey, chopped red onion, minced garlic, crumbled feta cheese, chopped parsley, fresh dill, lemon juice, dried oregano, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined to avoid overworking the meat, which helps keep the burgers tender.
  2. Shape Patties: Divide the mixture evenly into 4 to 6 portions depending on your preferred burger size. Shape each portion into a patty slightly larger than your burger buns to account for shrinkage while cooking.
  3. Preheat Cooking Surface: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat or preheat your grill to medium-high heat for grilling the burgers.
  4. Cook Burgers: Place the patties on the hot skillet or grill. Cook for approximately 5 to 6 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reads 165°F (74°C) to ensure they are safely cooked through and juicy.
  5. Toast Buns: While the burgers finish cooking, toast your burger buns or warm pita breads if desired to add a slight crunch and warmth.
  6. Assemble Burgers: Spread a generous amount of tzatziki on each bun, then top with a cooked turkey burger patty. Layer with fresh tomato, cucumber, and red onion slices for added flavor and crunch.
  7. Serve: Serve the Mediterranean turkey burgers immediately alongside a Greek salad, roasted potatoes, or crispy Greek fries for a complete meal.

Notes

  • Avoid overmixing the turkey mixture to keep the burgers tender and juicy.
  • Chill the shaped patties in the refrigerator for 15–20 minutes before cooking to help them hold their shape better on the grill or skillet.
  • Ground chicken can be used as an alternative to ground turkey for a slightly different flavor.
  • For an extra Mediterranean twist, add sliced Kalamata olives into the burger mixture or as a topping.
  • Cooked burgers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated before serving.
