Description

These Mediterranean Chicken Patties are tender and juicy, bursting with fresh herbs like parsley and dill, combined with garlic, lemon, and salty feta cheese. Perfectly seasoned and cooked in a skillet for a flavorful, high-protein meal that pairs wonderfully with tzatziki, Greek salad, pita bread, or roasted vegetables. Easy to prepare and ideal for lunch or dinner.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 ½ lbs ground chicken
  • ½ small red onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup crumbled feta cheese
  • ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: Add the ground chicken, finely chopped red onion, minced garlic, crumbled feta cheese, chopped parsley, chopped dill, egg, breadcrumbs, lemon juice, dried oregano, paprika, salt, and black pepper to a large bowl.
  2. Mix the Mixture: Gently mix all the ingredients together until evenly combined, being careful not to overmix so the patties stay tender.
  3. Form Patties: Divide the chicken mixture into 6 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty.
  4. Heat Oil: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat to prepare for cooking the patties.
  5. Cook Patties: Place the patties in the hot skillet and cook for 5 to 6 minutes on each side, or until they develop a golden-brown crust and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  6. Rest Patties: Transfer the cooked patties onto a plate and let them rest for a few minutes to redistribute juices.
  7. Serve: Serve the warm chicken patties alongside tzatziki sauce, a fresh Greek salad, warm pita bread, or your choice of roasted vegetables.

Notes

  • Chill the patties for 15–20 minutes before cooking to help them hold their shape and prevent crumbling.
  • Avoid overmixing the chicken mixture to maintain a tender texture in the patties.
  • Ground turkey can be used as a substitute for ground chicken for a slightly different flavor.
  • For a lighter preparation, bake the patties in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 20–25 minutes instead of pan-frying.
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
