Description

These Meatball Subs feature tender, flavorful meatballs smothered in rich marinara sauce and topped with melted mozzarella and Parmesan cheese, all nestled inside toasted hoagie rolls. Perfect for a comforting lunch or dinner, they combine hearty textures and classic Italian-American flavors in every bite.

Ingredients

Meatballs and Sauce

  • 16 cooked meatballs
  • 2 cups marinara sauce

Sandwich Assembly

  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • 1½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the assembled subs.
  2. Warm meatballs and sauce: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the cooked meatballs with marinara sauce and warm gently until heated through, stirring occasionally.
  3. Prepare hoagie rolls: Slice each hoagie roll lengthwise without cutting all the way through, creating a pocket for the filling.
  4. Assemble sandwiches: Place 4 warmed meatballs into each hoagie roll, spooning marinara sauce over them evenly to keep the subs saucy and flavorful.
  5. Add cheese toppings: Sprinkle 1½ cups of shredded mozzarella and 2 tablespoons of grated Parmesan cheese over the meatballs inside each roll.
  6. Bake the subs: Arrange the assembled subs on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly.
  7. Garnish and serve: Remove subs from the oven, optionally garnish with freshly chopped parsley for a bright finish, and serve hot for the best taste.

Notes

  • Lightly toast the hoagie rolls before assembling for added texture and to prevent sogginess.
  • Enhance flavor by adding sautéed peppers and onions inside the subs.
  • Serve these meatball subs with a fresh side salad or crispy chips to round out the meal.
