Description

A savory-sweet skillet dish featuring tender beef strips and caramelized Brussels sprouts, tossed in a maple glaze for the perfect balance of flavor. A quick and comforting weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

For the Beef:

  • 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (or sesame oil for extra flavor)

For the Brussels Sprouts:

  • 1 lb Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt & black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Beef: Toss beef slices with soy sauce in a bowl. Let marinate while prepping vegetables.
  2. Sear Beef: Heat olive oil in a skillet. Sear beef strips in batches until browned. Set aside.
  3. Caramelize Brussels Sprouts: In the same skillet, cook Brussels sprouts cut-side down until caramelized. Add garlic and cook until fragrant.
  4. Make the Glaze: Stir in maple syrup, balsamic vinegar, and red pepper flakes. Let the glaze thicken slightly.
  5. Combine and Serve: Return beef to skillet, toss everything together until heated through. Season with salt and pepper. Garnish with parsley.

Notes

  • Pairs well with rice, quinoa, or mashed potatoes.
  • For extra crunch, top with toasted pecans or walnuts.
  • Swap beef for chicken or tofu if preferred.
