Description

A juicy and flavorful Honey BBQ Meatloaf glazed with a sweet and tangy honey BBQ sauce, making it a perfect comforting family dinner option that combines classic meatloaf with a delicious BBQ twist.

Ingredients

Meatloaf

  • 500g ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Honey BBQ Glaze

  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp ketchup

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) to ensure it reaches the right temperature for baking the meatloaf evenly.
  2. Mix Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated.
  3. Shape Meatloaf: Shape the meat mixture into a loaf form and place it in a baking dish, shaping it evenly for uniform cooking.
  4. Prepare Glaze: In a separate small bowl, mix together BBQ sauce, honey, and ketchup to create the sweet and tangy glaze.
  5. Apply First Glaze Layer: Spread half of the honey BBQ sauce mixture evenly over the top of the meatloaf before baking.
  6. Bake Initial Time: Bake the meatloaf in the preheated oven for 40 minutes, allowing it to cook through and the glaze to start caramelizing.
  7. Add Remaining Glaze: Remove the meatloaf from the oven and spread the remaining honey BBQ sauce over the top to enhance flavor and moisture.
  8. Bake Final Time: Return the meatloaf to the oven and bake for another 10-15 minutes until fully cooked and the glaze is nicely set.
  9. Rest and Serve: Let the meatloaf rest for a few minutes after baking to retain its juices, then slice and serve, ideally with mashed potatoes or vegetables.

Notes

  • For added richness and flavor, use a mix of ground beef and pork instead of just beef.
  • Serve the meatloaf alongside classic sides like creamy mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
  • Make sure not to overmix the meatloaf mixture to keep it tender.
