Description

Homemade Crunchwraps offer a crispy, flavorful twist on the classic fast food favorite, combining seasoned beef, creamy nacho cheese, crunchy tostada shells, and fresh vegetables all wrapped in a golden, toasted flour tortilla. This easy stovetop recipe is perfect for busy weeknights, customizable with your favorite toppings, and ideal for family dinners or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Beef Filling

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Toppings and Assembly

  • 4 large flour tortillas
  • 4 small tostada shells
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup nacho cheese sauce
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 medium tomato, diced
  • 1/4 cup diced onion
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (for cooking)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Beef: In a skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef while breaking it apart with a spatula until fully cooked. Drain excess grease if necessary.
  2. Season the Beef: Stir in the taco seasoning and add 1/4 cup water as directed on the seasoning packet. Simmer for a few minutes until the beef is well-coated and the sauce thickens. Adjust salt and pepper to taste, then remove from heat.
  3. Prepare the Tortillas: Warm the large flour tortillas briefly to make them flexible and easier to fold without tearing.
  4. Assemble the Crunchwraps: Place a portion of the seasoned beef in the center of each warmed tortilla. Spoon nacho cheese sauce evenly over the beef, then place a small tostada shell on top.
  5. Add Toppings: Spread sour cream over the tostada shell. Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, diced onion, and shredded cheddar cheese.
  6. Fold the Tortilla: Carefully fold the edges of the large tortilla inward toward the center, creating a sealed wrap around the filling.
  7. Cook the Crunchwraps: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Place each crunchwrap seam-side down in the hot skillet. Cook until the bottom is golden and crisp, about 2-3 minutes. Flip carefully and cook the other side until browned and crispy, about another 2-3 minutes.
  8. Serve: Repeat with remaining crunchwraps. Serve immediately for the best texture and taste.

Notes

  • For added heat, include jalapeños, spicy taco seasoning, or Pepper Jack cheese.
  • You can substitute ground beef with shredded chicken, ground turkey, or seasoned beans.
  • Large flour tortillas are best for flexibility; avoid corn tortillas as they may crack during folding.
  • Store leftover cooked beef and toppings separately for up to 4 days in the fridge; assembled crunchwraps are best eaten fresh.
  • To reheat leftovers, use a dry skillet or air fryer to restore crispness rather than the microwave.
  • Customize with extra toppings like guacamole, salsa, cilantro, or pickled onions for added flavor.
  • Crunchwraps can be made vegetarian by substituting meat with beans or vegetables.
