Description

Crispy flour tortillas stuffed with seasoned ground beef and a blend of melted cheddar and mozzarella cheeses, creating a quick and flavorful family-friendly quesadilla perfect for a satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Beef Mixture

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Cheese

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or Monterey Jack cheese

Quesadilla

  • 4 large flour tortillas
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Brown the Ground Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until fully browned, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks. Once browned, carefully drain off any excess grease to keep the quesadillas from becoming too oily.
  2. Season the Beef: Stir in the chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper into the browned beef. Let the mixture cook together for 2–3 minutes to allow the spices to fully blend and enhance the flavor.
  3. Prepare the Skillet: Wipe the skillet clean and heat it over medium heat again. Lightly brush the surface with olive oil to prevent the tortillas from sticking and to help achieve that crispy, golden texture.
  4. Assemble the Quesadilla: Place one flour tortilla flat in the skillet. Sprinkle a layer of shredded cheddar cheese, then evenly distribute the seasoned ground beef over the cheese. Add another layer of shredded cheese on top to help the quesadilla stick together and melt evenly. Finally, cover with a second tortilla to complete the sandwich.
  5. Cook Until Golden: Cook the quesadilla for about 2–3 minutes per side. Flip carefully to brown both sides evenly until the tortillas are golden and crispy, and the cheese has fully melted inside.
  6. Serve: Remove the quesadilla from the skillet and slice into wedges. Serve warm with your favorite sides like salsa, sour cream, or guacamole for extra flavor.

Notes

  • Add diced peppers or onions to the ground beef mixture for additional flavor and texture.
  • Serve with salsa, sour cream, or guacamole to complement the quesadillas.
  • Cook on medium heat to avoid burning the tortillas before the cheese melts completely.
