Description

A flavorful fusion recipe that blends creamy Italian pasta with the spicy, savory, and slightly sweet Korean gochujang sauce. This creamy gochujang pasta delivers a rich and comforting meal with a perfect balance of heat and umami, topped with Parmesan cheese and fresh green onions.

Ingredients

Pasta

  • 200 g pasta

Sauce

  • 1 tbsp butter or olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp gochujang
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup pasta water
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Garnish

  • 1 green onion, sliced

Instructions

  1. Cook Pasta: Cook the pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/4 cup of the pasta water before draining.
  2. Sauté Garlic: In a pan, heat the butter or olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.
  3. Add Gochujang: Stir in the gochujang paste, cooking briefly to release its flavors.
  4. Add Cream: Pour in the heavy cream and stir well to combine with the gochujang mixture.
  5. Simmer Sauce: Add the reserved pasta water to the pan and bring the sauce to a gentle simmer to meld the flavors.
  6. Toss Pasta: Add the cooked pasta to the sauce and toss thoroughly to coat each strand evenly.
  7. Add Parmesan: Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until the sauce is creamy and coats the pasta beautifully.
  8. Season and Garnish: Season with salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with sliced green onions before serving.

Notes

  • Adjust the spiciness by increasing or decreasing the amount of gochujang according to your heat preference.
  • For added protein or variety, include cooked chicken, shrimp, or sautéed vegetables.
