Description
Savory mushroom caps filled with a creamy crab mixture—an elegant and delicious appetizer perfect for parties or special occasions.
Ingredients
Mushrooms
- 16 large mushrooms (stems removed)
Filling
- 1 cup crab meat (cooked)
- 1/4 cup cream cheese (softened)
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 tbsp parsley (chopped)
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
Finishing
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) to ensure it reaches the ideal temperature by the time you finish preparing the mushrooms.
- Prepare Mushrooms: Clean the mushrooms gently with a damp cloth or paper towel to remove any dirt. Carefully remove the stems to create space for the filling.
- Mix Filling: In a medium-sized bowl, combine the crab meat, softened cream cheese, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until the ingredients are evenly incorporated into a creamy, cohesive mixture.
- Stuff Mushrooms: Spoon the crab mixture into each mushroom cap, filling them generously but without overflowing.
- Arrange and Drizzle: Place the stuffed mushrooms on a baking tray in a single layer. Drizzle the olive oil evenly over the top to help them brown beautifully and add flavor.
- Bake: Bake the mushrooms in the preheated oven for 18–20 minutes, or until the tops are golden and the mushrooms are tender.
- Serve Warm: Remove from the oven and serve immediately while warm for best taste and texture. Optionally, add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice before serving to brighten the flavors.
Notes
- Use fresh crab for best flavor and texture.
- Add a squeeze of lemon juice before serving to enhance freshness.
- Ensure mushrooms are wiped clean with a damp cloth rather than washed to prevent sogginess.
