Description

A juicy and flavorful classic meatloaf cooked quickly and easily in the air fryer. This comforting dish boasts a tender texture with a deliciously tangy glaze on top, perfect for a weeknight dinner or cozy family meal.

Ingredients

Meatloaf

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup milk
  • ¼ cup diced onion
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Glaze

  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon mustard

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer: Set your air fryer to 360°F (180°C) and allow it to come to temperature to ensure even cooking.
  2. Mix ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, diced onion, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined to keep the meatloaf tender.
  3. Shape the meatloaf: Form the mixture into a loaf shape that will fit comfortably inside your air fryer basket.
  4. Air fry initial cooking: Place the meatloaf in the air fryer basket and cook for 15 minutes, allowing the exterior to brown and begin cooking through.
  5. Prepare and apply glaze: While the meatloaf cooks, mix together the ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard to create the glaze. After 15 minutes, spread this glaze evenly over the top of the partially cooked meatloaf.
  6. Finish cooking: Return the meatloaf to the air fryer and cook for an additional 5 to 8 minutes, until fully cooked through and the glaze has caramelized.
  7. Rest before serving: Remove the meatloaf from the air fryer and let it rest for 5 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute, resulting in a juicy slice.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground turkey for beef for a leaner option.
  • Serve the meatloaf with classic sides like mashed potatoes or roasted vegetables for a complete meal.
  • For a gluten-free diet, use gluten-free breadcrumbs instead of regular ones.
