Ingredients
Dry Ingredients
- 2 cups rolled oats
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
Wet Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter
- 2 tablespoons honey
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare it for baking the flapjacks.
- Melt the butter mixture: In a saucepan or microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter together with the brown sugar and honey until smooth and combined.
- Combine dry ingredients: In a mixing bowl, stir the rolled oats and chocolate chips together.
- Mix wet and dry: Pour the melted butter mixture over the oats and chocolate chips, stirring thoroughly to ensure all oats are coated.
- Press into pan: Line a baking pan with parchment paper and press the oat mixture evenly into the pan, making sure it’s compact and flat.
- Bake: Bake the mixture for 20 to 25 minutes, until the edges are golden and the center is set.
- Cool and slice: Allow the flapjacks to cool completely before slicing into 12 bars to ensure clean edges.
Notes
- Cut the flapjacks while still warm for cleaner, neater edges.
- Store in an airtight container to maintain freshness for up to 5 days.
- For a nutty variation, add chopped nuts like walnuts or almonds to the oat mixture.
- If you prefer less sweetness, reduce the brown sugar to 1/4 cup.
