Description
Soft and fluffy bread rolls filled with gooey melted cheese—perfect as a snack, side dish, or appetizer, these cheese bread rolls combine simple ingredients to create a deliciously warm and cheesy treat that everyone will love.
Ingredients
Dough
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet active dry yeast (about 2 1/4 teaspoons)
- 1 cup warm milk (around 110°F/43°C)
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 2 tbsp butter, melted
- 1/2 tsp salt
Filling
- 1 cup cheese (cubed or shredded, mozzarella recommended for stretchiness)
Instructions
- Activate Yeast: Dissolve the active dry yeast and sugar in the warm milk. Let the mixture sit for 5 minutes until it becomes frothy, indicating the yeast is active.
- Prepare Dough: In a mixing bowl, add melted butter, salt, and flour to the yeast mixture. Stir to form a soft dough.
- Knead Dough: Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Proof Dough: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Shape Rolls: Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 10 equal portions. Flatten each ball slightly to create a small disc.
- Add Cheese Filling: Place a cube or small handful of cheese in the center of each dough disc and carefully seal the dough around it, forming a tight ball with cheese enclosed inside.
- Second Rise: Arrange the filled rolls on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, leaving space between them. Cover and let them rest for 20 minutes to rise slightly.
- Bake: Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Bake the rolls for 18–20 minutes until the tops are golden brown and the cheese inside is melted.
- Optional Finishing Touch: Brush the hot rolls with melted butter immediately after baking for an extra soft and flavorful crust.
Notes
- Brush with butter after baking for extra softness and shine.
- Use mozzarella cheese for a stretchy and gooey filling experience.
- You can substitute all-purpose flour with bread flour for a chewier texture.
- Allow the dough to rise in a warm, draft-free environment for best results.
- If you want a crispier crust, skip brushing with butter after baking.
