Description

A comforting and cheesy pasta bake loaded with crispy bacon and a creamy sauce, baked until golden and bubbling. This dish combines tender pasta with a rich cheese sauce and savory bacon, making it a perfect hearty meal for any occasion.

Ingredients

Cheese Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese

Main

  • 2 cups cooked pasta
  • 6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) to prepare for baking the pasta dish until golden and bubbly.
  2. Make the Roux: Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in 2 tablespoons of flour and cook for about a minute to form a roux, which will thicken the sauce.
  3. Add Milk and Seasonings: Gradually whisk in 2 cups of milk, stirring continuously until the mixture is smooth and has thickened. Add 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, salt, and black pepper to taste, stirring well to combine the flavors.
  4. Melt Cheese in Sauce: Add half of the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese into the sauce. Stir until the cheese has completely melted and the sauce is creamy.
  5. Combine Pasta and Bacon: Mix 2 cups of cooked pasta and 6 slices of cooked, crumbled bacon into the cheese sauce, ensuring everything is well coated.
  6. Transfer to Baking Dish: Pour the combined mixture into a baking dish, spreading it evenly. Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top for a cheesy crust.
  7. Bake: Place the dish in the oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the top is golden and the sauce is bubbling.
  8. Serve: Remove from oven and serve warm for a comforting meal.

Notes

  • Use any pasta shape you prefer, such as penne, fusilli, or macaroni.
  • Add vegetables like broccoli or peas for extra nutrition and color.
  • For an extra crispy topping, broil the pasta bake for 2-3 minutes after baking, watching closely to avoid burning.
