Description

A savory and easy-to-make quick bread featuring sharp cheddar cheese and the rich flavor of beer. This bread requires no yeast and is perfect for serving alongside soups, stews, or chili, adding a deliciously cheesy and moist texture to any meal.

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar

Cheese

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 bottle (12 oz) beer
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a loaf pan to ensure the bread doesn’t stick during baking.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together 3 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 tablespoon of sugar until well combined.
  3. Add Cheese: Stir in 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese thoroughly, distributing the cheese evenly throughout the flour mixture.
  4. Combine Wet Ingredients: Pour in the 12 oz bottle of beer and gently mix until the batter is just combined. Be careful not to over-mix to keep the bread tender.
  5. Prepare for Baking: Transfer the batter into the greased loaf pan, smoothing the top. Drizzle 2 tablespoons of melted butter over the surface to help form a golden crust.
  6. Bake: Place the loaf pan in the oven and bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool and Serve: Let the bread cool slightly in the pan before slicing. Serve warm, optionally with extra butter or alongside soups and stews for a hearty meal.

Notes

  • Sharp cheddar delivers the best bold and savory flavor for this bread.
  • Serve the bread warm with a pat of butter for extra richness.
  • This bread pairs wonderfully with hearty soups, stews, or chili.
