Description

This flavorful steak marinade combines soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, herbs, and lemon juice to create tender, juicy, and deeply seasoned steak. Ideal for grilling or pan-searing, this marinade infuses the meat with a balanced blend of savory and tangy flavors, ensuring a deliciously satisfying main course.

Ingredients

Steak

  • 700 g steak (flank, sirloin, ribeye, or strip steak)

Marinade

  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Prepare marinade: Whisk all marinade ingredients together in a bowl until well combined, ensuring the honey and mustard dissolve fully to create a uniform mixture.
  2. Marinate steak: Place the steak in a resealable bag or shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the steak, turning it to coat thoroughly. Seal or cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, ideally 2 to 8 hours, to allow flavors to penetrate the meat.
  3. Preheat cooking surface: Remove the steak from the marinade and discard the used marinade. Preheat a grill or skillet over high heat until very hot to ensure a good sear.
  4. Cook steak: Place the steak on the grill or skillet. Cook according to your preferred doneness, usually about 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, depending on thickness.
  5. Rest the steak: Transfer the cooked steak to a cutting board and let it rest for 5 to 10 minutes. This resting period allows the juices to redistribute, making the steak juicier.
  6. Slice and serve: Slice the steak against the grain into desired portions and serve immediately to enjoy the full flavor and tenderness.

Notes

  • Flank, sirloin, ribeye, and strip steak all work well with this marinade.
  • Avoid marinating for longer than 8 hours because the acidic ingredients can start to break down the steak’s texture excessively, leading to mushiness.
  • Pat the steak dry with paper towels before searing to develop a better crust and avoid steaming.
