Description

These Apple and Cheddar Crostini offer a delightful combination of tart apple slices, sharp cheddar cheese, and a drizzle of honey on toasted baguette slices, creating an elegant and easy-to-make appetizer perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Base

  • 1 baguette, sliced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Toppings

  • 1 large apple, thinly sliced
  • 4 oz sharp white cheddar, sliced
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for toasting the baguette slices and melting the cheese.
  2. Toast Baguette: Brush both sides of the baguette slices with olive oil, then arrange them on a baking sheet. Toast in the oven for 8–10 minutes until golden and crisp.
  3. Add Toppings: Remove the toasted baguette slices from the oven and place a slice of sharp cheddar followed by a thin slice of apple on each piece.
  4. Melt Cheese: Return the topped crostini to the oven for an additional 3–5 minutes to allow the cheddar to soften and slightly melt.
  5. Finish and Serve: Once melted, remove from the oven and drizzle each crostini with honey. Sprinkle with fresh thyme if desired to add a herbal note. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Try using pear slices instead of apple for a different but equally delicious flavor.
  • Substitute honey with fig jam for a sweeter, fruitier variation.
