Description

These air fryer donuts are soft, fluffy, and perfectly golden with a light crisp exterior. They’re quick to make, healthier than traditional fried donuts, and perfect for a sweet treat anytime without the mess of deep frying.

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt

Wet Ingredients

  • ¾ cup milk
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For Coating

  • ¼ cup melted butter
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir well to ensure these ingredients are evenly distributed.
  2. Add Wet Ingredients: Pour in the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract into the dry ingredients. Mix until a soft, pliable dough forms that is not too sticky.
  3. Shape Donuts: Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about ½ inch thickness. Use a donut cutter or two round cutters (one large and one small) to cut out donut shapes.
  4. Preheat Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 180°C (350°F) and allow it to preheat for a few minutes to ensure even cooking.
  5. Air Fry Donuts: Place the cut donuts carefully in the air fryer basket, making sure not to overcrowd them to allow proper air circulation. Cook for 6 to 8 minutes until they turn golden and puffed up.
  6. Coat Donuts: Immediately brush the hot donuts with melted butter, then dip or sprinkle them with the cinnamon sugar mixture to coat evenly.
  7. Serve Warm: Enjoy the donuts while warm for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Use biscuit dough as a shortcut if you want to save time.
  • For a different finish, substitute the cinnamon sugar coating with a glaze or icing of your choice.
  • These donuts are best eaten fresh and warm but can be stored in an airtight container for a day.
