Description

This Puff Pastry Pizza is a crispy, flaky, and irresistibly cheesy treat made with store-bought puff pastry for a quick and delicious shortcut. Perfect for appetizers, lunches, or an easy weeknight dinner, it combines a golden puff pastry crust with gooey melted mozzarella and your favorite toppings.

Ingredients

Base

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 23 tbsp olive oil or ¼ cup pizza sauce

Toppings

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup cherry tomatoes, sliced (or favorite toppings)
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish

Optional Toppings

  • Pepperoni
  • Mushrooms
  • Olives
  • Pesto
  • Red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (205°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and facilitate easy cleanup.
  2. Prepare Puff Pastry: Unfold the thawed puff pastry sheet on a flat surface and lightly roll the edges to smooth out any creases.
  3. Prick Pastry: Using a fork, prick the pastry all over except the edges. This step helps prevent large air bubbles while allowing the edges to puff nicely.
  4. Add Base Layer: Brush the pastry evenly with olive oil or spread a thin layer of pizza sauce according to your preference.
  5. Layer Cheese and Toppings: Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the base, then add sliced cherry tomatoes or other toppings of your choice. Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper to taste.
  6. Bake: Place the prepared puff pastry pizza on the lined baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 15–18 minutes until the pastry is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven and garnish with fresh basil leaves. Slice into portions and serve immediately for the best texture and flavor.

Notes

  • Par-bake the puff pastry for about 5 minutes if using a lot of sauce to avoid a soggy crust.
  • For extra shine and crispiness, brush the edges of the pastry with egg wash before baking.
  • Try seasonal topping combinations like Margherita (tomato and basil), Pepperoni with a hot honey drizzle, or Pesto with spinach and mozzarella.
  • This pizza is best eaten fresh as puff pastry softens as it cools.
