Description

A delightful recipe for Feta Spinach Stuffed French Bread. A creamy, savory filling made with spinach, cheeses, and salami, perfect for baking on French bread or serving as a warm dip at gatherings.

Ingredients

Main Filling

  • 8 oz cream cheese, room temperature
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 package Lipton onion soup mix
  • ½ teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese, divided
  • 1 cup feta cheese
  • 10 oz frozen chopped spinach, thawed and well-drained
  • 24 slices salami rounds, chopped

Bread or Baguette

  • 2 loaves French bread or 4 baguettes

Instructions

  1. Thaw and Drain Spinach: Thaw and thoroughly drain the frozen spinach to remove excess moisture.
  2. Mix Creamy Filling: In a large bowl, combine cream cheese, mayonnaise, sour cream, onion soup mix, and black pepper until smooth.
  3. Add Cheeses and Spinach: Stir in 1½ cups of mozzarella and all the feta cheese. Fold in the drained spinach and chopped salami.
  4. Prepare Bread: Hollow out loaves or slice baguettes lengthwise. Alternatively, use a baking dish.
  5. Fill and Bake: Transfer the mixture into the bread or baking dish. Top with remaining mozzarella cheese. Bake at 180 °C (350 °F) for approximately 20 minutes until cheese is melted and edges are golden and bubbling.
  6. Serve: Slice and serve warm, or cut baguettes into individual portions before serving.

Notes

  • To reduce richness, use low-fat versions of sour cream and mayonnaise.
  • For a vegetarian version, substitute salami with sun-dried tomatoes or roasted red peppers.
  • Prepare the filling ahead and refrigerate; bake just before serving.
  • Add a panko and butter topping for extra crunch.
  • Freeze the filling separately for up to 2 months; thaw before baking.
