Description

This Easy Chicken Shawarma Wrap with Creamy Garlic Sauce is a delicious Middle Eastern-inspired meal that’s packed with flavor and perfect for lunch or dinner. Tender spiced chicken is wrapped in warm flatbread with fresh veggies and a rich, tangy garlic sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground paprika
  • 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground coriander
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 4 flatbreads or pita breads
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 tomato, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup chopped cucumber (optional)
  • For the Creamy Garlic Sauce:
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp plain yogurt
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, cumin, paprika, turmeric, cinnamon, coriander, salt, and pepper.
  2. Add chicken thighs and coat well. Marinate for at least 30 minutes or overnight in the fridge.
  3. Preheat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook the chicken for 5–6 minutes per side, or until fully cooked and slightly charred.
  4. Remove chicken from the pan and let rest for 5 minutes, then slice into strips.
  5. In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, yogurt, garlic, lemon juice, and salt to make the creamy garlic sauce.
  6. Warm flatbreads or pita breads slightly in a pan or microwave.
  7. To assemble, spread garlic sauce on the bread, add lettuce, tomato, onion, cucumber (if using), and sliced chicken.
  8. Wrap tightly and serve immediately.

Notes

  • You can substitute chicken thighs with chicken breast if preferred.
  • Marinating overnight enhances the flavor.
  • Add pickles or hot sauce for an extra kick.
