This Easy Chicken Shawarma Wrap with Creamy Garlic Sauce is a delicious Middle Eastern-inspired meal that’s packed with flavor and perfect for lunch or dinner. Tender spiced chicken is wrapped in warm flatbread with fresh veggies and a rich, tangy garlic sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground paprika
- 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground coriander
- 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 4 flatbreads or pita breads
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1 tomato, thinly sliced
- 1/4 red onion, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup chopped cucumber (optional)
- For the Creamy Garlic Sauce:
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp plain yogurt
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, cumin, paprika, turmeric, cinnamon, coriander, salt, and pepper.
- Add chicken thighs and coat well. Marinate for at least 30 minutes or overnight in the fridge.
- Preheat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook the chicken for 5–6 minutes per side, or until fully cooked and slightly charred.
- Remove chicken from the pan and let rest for 5 minutes, then slice into strips.
- In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, yogurt, garlic, lemon juice, and salt to make the creamy garlic sauce.
- Warm flatbreads or pita breads slightly in a pan or microwave.
- To assemble, spread garlic sauce on the bread, add lettuce, tomato, onion, cucumber (if using), and sliced chicken.
- Wrap tightly and serve immediately.
Notes
- You can substitute chicken thighs with chicken breast if preferred.
- Marinating overnight enhances the flavor.
- Add pickles or hot sauce for an extra kick.
