Description
Tender and flavorful chicken thighs slow cooked to perfection in a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce, creating a comforting and easy weeknight dinner that pairs wonderfully with rice, noodles, or vegetables.
Ingredients
Chicken
- 6 chicken thighs (bone-in or boneless)
Sauce
- ½ cup honey
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
Thickener (Optional)
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
Instructions
- Prepare the sauce: In a medium bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, ketchup, vinegar, and black pepper until fully combined and smooth.
- Arrange chicken in crock pot: Place the chicken thighs evenly in the bottom of the crock pot or slow cooker.
- Pour sauce over chicken: Evenly pour the prepared honey garlic sauce over the chicken thighs, ensuring all pieces are well coated.
- Slow cook: Cover the crock pot and cook on low for 6 to 7 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours until the chicken is tender and fully cooked through.
- Optional thickening: If desired, carefully remove the cooked chicken and set aside. Mix cornstarch with a small amount of cold water to create a slurry, then stir it into the crock pot sauce. Cook on high, uncovered, for 10-15 minutes until the sauce thickens to your liking.
- Serve: Return the chicken to the thickened sauce or serve the sauce alongside. Garnish with green onions or sesame seeds if desired, and enjoy with rice, noodles, or steamed vegetables.
Notes
- Garnish the dish with sliced green onions or toasted sesame seeds for added flavor and presentation.
