Description

Rich, creamy shrimp Alfredo made from scratch in under 30 minutes — restaurant-quality comfort food that’s surprisingly easy to make at home, featuring tender shrimp and a luscious parmesan cream sauce served over fettuccine pasta.

Ingredients

Pasta

  • 8 oz fettuccine pasta

Shrimp

  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined

Sauce

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • Parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook Pasta: Cook the fettuccine pasta according to the package directions until al dente. Reserve ½ cup of the pasta cooking water before draining the pasta.
  2. Cook Shrimp: In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the peeled and deveined shrimp and cook for 2 to 3 minutes per side until they turn pink and are cooked through. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Sauté Garlic: Add the minced garlic to the same skillet and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
  4. Make Alfredo Sauce: Pour the heavy cream into the skillet with the garlic and let it simmer gently for about 3 minutes to thicken slightly. Stir in the grated parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth and creamy.
  5. Combine Ingredients: Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat with the Alfredo sauce. Add the cooked fettuccine pasta and toss everything together, adding reserved pasta water a little at a time to reach your desired sauce consistency.
  6. Serve: Garnish with freshly chopped parsley, season with salt and pepper to taste, and serve the shrimp Alfredo warm.

Notes

  • Add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice for brightness and enhanced flavor.
  • Sprinkle red pepper flakes if you like a bit of heat.
  • Use freshly grated parmesan cheese for best texture and flavor.
  • You can substitute fettuccine with linguine or tagliatelle if preferred.
  • Make sure not to overcook the shrimp to keep them tender and juicy.
