Description
Classic Chicken Salad is a fresh, creamy dish made with tender shredded chicken, crisp vegetables, and a mayonnaise-based dressing. It’s a versatile dish that can be served on a bed of greens, in a sandwich, or wrapped in a tortilla.
Ingredients
- 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded or diced (rotisserie chicken works well)
 - 1/2 cup mayonnaise
 - 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
 - 1 tablespoon lemon juice
 - 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
 - 1/4 teaspoon salt
 - 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
 - 1/2 cup celery, finely chopped
 - 1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped
 - 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley (optional)
 - 1/4 cup sliced almonds or walnuts (optional)
 
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine shredded chicken, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well until everything is coated.
 - Stir in chopped celery, red onion, and parsley (if using). Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
 - If desired, fold in sliced almonds or walnuts for added crunch.
 - Refrigerate the chicken salad for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld. Serve chilled on a bed of greens, in a sandwich, or in a wrap.
 
Notes
- For a lighter version, substitute Greek yogurt or sour cream for some or all of the mayonnaise.
 - Feel free to add grapes, apples, or dried cranberries for a touch of sweetness.
 - This chicken salad can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for 2–3 days.
