Description
A refreshing and vibrant Citrus Cranberry Sorbet blending tart cranberries with bright citrus juices. This light, tangy frozen dessert is perfect as a palate cleanser or a festive winter treat, naturally colorful and easy to prepare.
Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
- 1 cup water
- ½ cup sugar (adjust to taste)
- ½ cup orange juice
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp orange zest
Instructions
- Simmer Cranberries: In a saucepan, combine the cranberries, water, and sugar. Simmer over medium heat for about 10 minutes until the cranberries burst and soften, releasing their juices.
- Blend the Mixture: Carefully transfer the warm cranberry mixture to a blender and blend until smooth. For a smoother texture, strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve to remove seeds and skins.
- Add Citrus Flavors: Stir in the orange juice, lemon juice, and orange zest into the blended cranberry mixture, ensuring all the flavors are well incorporated.
- Chill the Mixture: Cover and chill the sorbet base in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours so it becomes thoroughly cold before freezing.
- Freeze into Sorbet: Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions until it reaches a sorbet consistency. Alternatively, pour into a shallow dish and freeze, stirring every 30 minutes to break up ice crystals until firm and smooth.
Notes
- Adjust the amount of sugar based on the tartness of your cranberries to suit your taste.
- For garnish, add fresh mint leaves or whole cranberries to enhance presentation and flavor.
