Description

Chicken Parmesan is a classic Italian-American dish made with breaded chicken breasts, marinara sauce, and melted mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses, baked to golden perfection.


Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup olive oil (for frying)
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Place flour in one shallow dish, beaten eggs in a second, and mix breadcrumbs, Parmesan, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a third dish.
  3. Pound chicken breasts to even thickness. Dredge each piece in flour, then egg, then breadcrumb mixture, coating well.
  4. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry chicken breasts 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate.
  5. Spread 1/2 cup of marinara sauce in the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish. Place fried chicken over the sauce.
  6. Spoon remaining marinara over the chicken, then top each piece with mozzarella cheese.
  7. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until chicken is cooked through and cheese is bubbly and slightly golden.
  8. Garnish with fresh basil if desired and serve with pasta or salad.
