Ingredients
-
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
-
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
-
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
-
1/2 tsp garlic powder
-
1/2 tsp dried oregano
-
1/4 tsp salt
-
1/4 tsp black pepper
-
1 large egg
-
1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko for extra crunch)
-
2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
- Marinara sauce (for dipping)
Instructions
-
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
In a bowl, mix together the shredded mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan cheese.
-
Using your hands, form the cheese mixture into small, bite-sized balls (about 1 inch in diameter). You may need to slightly press them together to keep them from falling apart.
-
In a shallow bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper.
-
In another bowl, beat the egg.
-
Place the breadcrumbs in a third shallow bowl.
-
Dip each cheese ball into the flour mixture, then the egg, and finally coat them with breadcrumbs. Make sure each bite is well-coated.
-
Place the coated cheese balls on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each one.
-
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and serve with marinara sauce for dipping.
Notes
-
For an extra crispy texture, try air frying them at 375°F for 8-10 minutes.
-
You can make these ahead of time and freeze them before baking. Just bake straight from the freezer for about 15-18 minutes.
- For a spicier version, add a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes to the breadcrumb mixture.
