Description

Cheesy Egg Toast is the perfect breakfast for cheese lovers! With a crispy, golden toast base topped with a perfectly cooked egg and melted cheese, this simple yet satisfying dish is a quick and delicious way to start your day. You can easily customize it with your favorite toppings, making it both indulgent and versatile!

Ingredients

  • 2 slices of bread (white, whole wheat, or sourdough)

  • 2 eggs

  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a blend)

  • 1 tbsp butter (for toasting)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder (optional)

  • Fresh herbs for garnish (optional, like parsley or chives)

Instructions

  • Toast the Bread: Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat and melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Place the bread slices in the pan and toast them until golden and crispy on both sides (about 2-3 minutes per side).

  • Cook the Eggs: In the same pan, crack the eggs carefully, keeping them sunny-side up or to your preferred doneness. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder (if using).

  • Melt the Cheese: Once the eggs are almost done, sprinkle the shredded cheese on top and cover the pan with a lid to melt the cheese for about 1-2 minutes.

  • Assemble the Toast: Place each cheesy egg on top of the toasted bread slices.

  • Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle with fresh herbs for garnish (optional). Serve immediately with a side of fruit or greens.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use a combination of cheddar and mozzarella.

  • You can add avocado, tomato slices  for extra toppings.

  • Adjust the doneness of the egg to your liking — soft-boiled, scrambled, or even poached!

  • Use whole-grain or gluten-free bread for a healthier alternative.
