Ingredients
For the Casserole:
- 1 lb ground beef
 - 4–5 medium potatoes, thinly sliced (¼-inch thick)
 - 1 tbsp olive oil
 - 1 medium onion, chopped
 - 2 cloves garlic, minced
 - ½ cup beef broth
 - ¼ cup milk (optional)
 
For Seasoning & Cheese:
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
 - ½ tsp paprika
 - Salt and pepper to taste
 - 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
 - ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
 - Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
 
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
 - Heat olive oil in a skillet. Sauté onions and garlic until softened.
 - Add ground beef. Season with Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook until browned.
 - Layer half the potatoes in the baking dish. Top with half the beef mixture and half the cheddar cheese. Repeat layers.
 - Pour beef broth and milk (if using) evenly over the layers.
 - Cover with foil and bake for 35–40 minutes.
 - Remove foil, sprinkle with Parmesan, and bake uncovered for another 10 minutes until golden.
 - Let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley.
 
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a splash of Worcestershire sauce to the beef.
 - Thin slicing is key—use a mandoline slicer if needed.
 - You can double the cheese if you’re feeling extra cheesy.
