Description
Caramel Apple Tiramisu is a fall-inspired twist on the classic Italian dessert. Layers of spiced apples, creamy mascarpone filling, and ladyfingers soaked in apple cider come together with a rich drizzle of caramel sauce.
Ingredients
- 6–8 apples, peeled, cored, and diced
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 cup apple cider (for soaking)
- 1 (8 oz) container mascarpone cheese
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 package ladyfinger cookies
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce (plus extra for topping)
Instructions
- In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cook until apples are tender and caramelized, about 10–12 minutes. Let cool completely.
- In a large bowl, beat mascarpone, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Fold into the mascarpone mixture to create a light, fluffy filling.
- Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the apple cider (don’t soak too long) and layer them in the bottom of a 9×9-inch dish.
- Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers. Top with half of the caramelized apples and drizzle with caramel sauce.
- Repeat layers with remaining ladyfingers, mascarpone mixture, apples, and more caramel drizzle.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow flavors to meld.
- Before serving, drizzle with additional caramel sauce if desired.
Notes
- Use tart apples like Granny Smith for balance against the sweet caramel.
- Make the night before for best texture and flavor.
- You can substitute cream cheese for mascarpone if needed.
